Métisse RT 45 mm: as effective at protecting you from the cold as it is from the heat!

Thanks to its low thermal conductivity (λ = 0.039 W/m-K)*, Métisse RT offers excellent thermal performance in both winter and summer!

In winter, this natural fibre-based insulation effectively retains heat inside, reducing the need for heating and providing a cosy atmosphere.

In summer, thanks to its remarkable thermal phase shift, it slows the penetration of outside heat, keeping your interior pleasantly cool.

How do I use the different elements in this kit?

1. Walls, ceiling, reinforcements

• Armaflex Cleaner: a cleaner specifically designed to prepare the surfaces of your van before applying Armaflex insulation.
• Armaflex AF 19 mm: high-performance insulation, offering stable thermal conductivity and including a vapour barrier to effectively control condensation and the risk of corrosion. Packaged in 19 mm rolls, this material is flexible, easy to cut and self-adhesive. It is quick and easy to install.
• Armaflex AF 10 mm: self-adhesive, to be applied to reinforcements and sleepers whose interiors cannot be filled.
• Armaflex AF Tape for making joints. In rolls of 15m.

2. Doors

Doors are often tricky to insulate because of their limited accessibility. Métisse RT is a malleable material, ideal for application in these areas.

• Métisse RT 45 mm, which you now know like the back of your hand
• Proclima Intello vapour barrier: its function is to prevent the migration of water vapour inside a wall by eliminating the risk of condensation, while allowing water vapour to pass to the outside. Packaged in 1.5 m wide rolls.
• Special double-sided vapour barrier. In rolls of 50m.

3. Wheel arches

Armaflex AF 10 mm self-adhesive.

4. Floor

• 4 mm cork in rolls.
• High-performancespray adhesive for fixing the cork to the vehicle's sheet metal or under the wooden floor.

FAQ - L1H1 insulation kit

Which vehicles are compatible with this insulation kit?

This insulation kit is specifically designed for L1H1 vans. It is compatible with most popular models such as the Renault Kangoo, Peugeot Partner, Citroën Berlingo, Ford Transit Connect, Opel Combo Cargo, and Fiat Doblò Cargo in their L1H1 versions. Quantities are adjusted for these compact dimensions.

Is a vapour barrier essential for installing Métisse RT in my van?

Yes, a vapour brake is strongly recommended, indeed essential, when installing Métisse RT (or any fibrous insulation) in a van. It regulates the transfer of water vapour between the inside and outside of the vehicle, preventing condensation in the walls and protecting the insulation from damp, which ensures its durability and performance.

Can I lay this insulation kit over sprayed cork?

It is generally recommended not to lay Armaflex directly over sprayed cork if the latter is not perfectly smooth and adherent, as this could compromise the long-term hold of the Armaflex self-adhesive glue. On the other hand, sprayed cork can be used as a first layer before another type of insulation if the surface remains suitable for subsequent installation. For Métisse RT, installation over sprayed cork is possible if the cork is dry and stable, but the vapour brake will have to be installed between the Métisse RT and the interior cladding.

What is the lifespan of this insulation kit?

The lifespan of this insulation kit is designed to be very long, generally estimated at over 10 years, or even much longer if the installation is carried out correctly and the vehicle is maintained in healthy conditions (good ventilation, no water infiltration). Materials such as Armaflex and cork are renowned for their robustness and resistance to ageing, while Métisse RT is treated to be fireproof, antifungal and antibacterial, guaranteeing excellent durability over time.
