FAQ: answers to your questions

Can I lay this insulation over sprayed cork?

Yes, and it's an excellent strategy! The sprayed cork will act as an anti-condensation barrier, while the Métisse RT will provide the bulk of the thermal-acoustic insulation. Just make sure that the surface is dry (wait 24 to 48 hours minimum) and smooth before laying.

Why is the vapour barrier so important?

It is essential for natural fibre insulation. As Métisse RT "breathes", the vapour brake will manage the migration of water vapour to prevent it condensing on the cold sheet of your bodywork. It therefore protects your insulation and your vehicle from rust and mould.

What's the difference with a vapour barrier?

A vapour barrier is 100% waterproof. In a van, it could trap moisture inside the insulation. A vapour brake, on the other hand, is "intelligent": it blocks moisture coming from the inside but can let it escape to the outside if necessary. It's the healthiest solution for your van.
