Armacell Cleaner being used on the walls of a van

Step 2: Insulate the walls and ceiling

Unroll the Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm over the walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom and peeling off the protective film as you go.

Smooth each section by hand to remove air, then reinforce the ceiling with mechanical fixings every 500 mm.

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces

Degrease the metal sheet with Armaflex Cleaner, working from top to bottom, before any installation. A perfectly clean and dry surface is essential: the slightest trace of grease or dust will prevent the adhesive from holding over time.

Fit your battens and mechanical fixings before the insulation, so as not to compress it once in place.

Step 3: Treat reinforcements and wheel arches

The Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm, thinner and more flexible, fits into uprights, stringers and wheel arches where the 19 mm cannot conform.

Cut it with a fresh blade, leaving a 5 mm margin to compensate for any irregularities in the metalwork.

Step 4: Insulate the doors with Biofib Trio

Cut the Biofib Trio to the shape of the door panel by tearing it, leaving a slight margin for a snug fit.

Then fit the Proclima Intello vapour barrier on the interior side — essential with a fibrous insulation: it prevents moisture from building up against the metal sheet.

Secure it with the dedicated double-sided tape.

Step 5: Seal the joints

Every joint between two lengths of Armaflex ChezMoi, every corner and every cut must be sealed with Armaflex ChezMoi Tape.

A single bare spot is enough to create a cold bridge where condensation sets in, with a risk of corrosion on the metalwork as a result.

Be generous — now is not the time to be heavy-handed with restraint!

Step 6: Fit the floor

Apply high-performance spray adhesive to the floor sheet metal, then roll out the 4mm cork on top. Thin and flexible, it takes up almost no underfloor height whilst cutting out the cold rising from the ground.

Once fitted, your van is fully insulated — you can move on to the next step of your conversion!

Complete thermo-acoustic comfort for your L2H2

The Armaflex ChezMoi insulates your L2H2 van from floor to ceiling, including walls and structural reinforcements.

On the doors, the Armaflex ChezMoi gives way to Biofib Trio: this natural fibre panel (hemp, linen, cotton) provides excellent acoustic comfort in addition to its thermal performance, thanks to its spring effect that limits vibrations. A vapour barrier completes the installation to protect the metal sheet from condensation. Cork rounds out the solution on the floor. Quantities already calibrated for this size, adhesives and accessories included.

Compatible with L2H2 vans on the market (Renault Master, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Jumper, Fiat Ducato, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit and equivalents), this kit covers walls, ceiling, doors, wheel arches and floor.

  • Quantities calibrated for an L2H2: no calculations needed on your part.
  • Armaflex ChezMoi, designed for the van: unlike the former AF, which was designed for building construction.
  • Enhanced acoustic comfort: the spring effect of Biofib Trio limits sound vibrations.
  • Easy installation with no prior experience: self-adhesive or easy-to-cut materials.
  • Designed and manufactured in France: hemp, linen and cotton with 85% French supply chain.

Materials chosen for their role in insulation

Armaflex ChezMoi — the insulation designed for the van

The successor to the Armaflex AF, the ChezMoi uses the same closed-cell technology in a formulation designed from the outset for van conversion rather than building construction. Its integrated vapour barrier means there is no need to add a separate vapour retarder on the walls and ceiling.

  • Role in the kit: walls, ceiling, structural reinforcements, wheel arches
  • Thickness / packaging: 19 mm (6 m² roll) and 10 mm (10 m² roll)
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.035 W/(m·K)
  • Integrated vapour barrier: closed cells, no separate vapour retarder needed
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban®, integrated into the material
  • Service temperature: -50 °C to +85 °C
  • VOC emissions: A+ rating (ISO 16 000)
  • Manufacturer's warranty: 10 years
  • Origin / manufacturing: Europe, Armacell technology

Biofib Trio — the natural insulation for hard-to-reach areas

Made from hemp, linen and cotton (85% French supply chain), Biofib Trio is designed and manufactured in France. Its natural hygrometric regulation helps prevent excess moisture in the vehicle, and its structure does not compress even after thousands of kilometres.

  • Role in the kit: doors
  • Thickness / packaging: 45 mm (0.75 m² panel)
  • Density: 30 kg/m³
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.038 W/(m·K)
  • Thermal resistance (R): 1.15 m²·K/W
  • Hygrometric regulation: yes, vapour-permeable (µ ≤ 2)
  • Long-term durability: does not compress over time, natural spring effect
  • Origin / manufacturing: France, 85% French supply chain (hemp, linen, cotton)

Cork — the natural floor insulation

Naturally rot-proof and moisture-resistant, cork insulates the floor without adding unnecessary thickness. Its lightness and flexibility make it a straightforward solution to install with spray adhesive, directly onto the metal sheet.

  • Role in the kit: floor
  • Thickness / packaging: 4 mm (4 m² roll)
  • Moisture resistance: rot-proof, naturally water-resistant
  • Origin / manufacturing: natural material
