Man cleaning the walls of a van before fitting the Armaflex ChezMoi 19mm

Step 2: Insulate the walls and ceiling

Unroll the Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm over the walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom and removing the protective film as you go.

Smooth each section by hand to remove any air, then reinforce the ceiling with mechanical fixings every 500 mm.

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces

Degrease the metal sheet with Cleaner Armaflex, working from top to bottom, before any installation.

A perfectly clean and dry surface is essential: the slightest trace of grease or dust will prevent the adhesive from holding over time.

Fit your battens and mechanical fixings before the insulation, so as not to compress it once in place.

Step 3: Treat reinforcements and wheel arches

The Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm, thinner and more flexible, fits into uprights, side rails and wheel arches that the 19 mm cannot conform to.

Cut it with a fresh blade, leaving a 5 mm margin to compensate for any irregularities in the metal sheet.

Step 4: Insulate the doors with Métisse RT

Cut the Métisse RT to the shape of the door panel using a smooth or serrated blade knife, leaving a slight margin for a snug fit.

Then apply the Proclima Intello vapour barrier on the interior side — essential when using a fibrous insulator: it prevents moisture from building up against the metal sheet.

Secure it with the dedicated double-sided adhesive tape.

Step 6: Fit the floor covering

Apply high-performance spray adhesive to the van's floor sheet, then roll out the 4 mm cork on top.

Thin and flexible, it takes up almost no floor-to-ceiling height while cutting out the cold rising from the ground.

Once laid, your van is fully insulated — you can move on to the next step of your build!

Optimise the insulation of your L4H3 van with an eco-designed and ultra-high-performance kit!

Do you aspire to convert your L4H3 van into an autonomous and comfortable living space, but the complexity of insulating materials and the multiple calculations to be made hold you back?

Our van conversion experts have put their experience to good use to design a complete solution that eliminates these concerns: an insulation kit designed to maximise performance, simplify installation and promote an environmentally friendly approach.

Three types of insulation adapted to the constraints of each area of the vehicle, glue, vapour barrier, seals, etc., they've thought of everything, all you have to do is install it!

Close-up of Métisse RT fibre

A kit designed for effective insulation that is easy to install:

  • L4H3-specific design: This kit is meticulously prepared with quantities and formats adapted to your L4H3 van. No more sizing uncertainties!
  • Thermal comfort but also acoustic: Enjoy first-class thermal and sound insulation. Your interior will remain pleasant and quiet, whatever the external conditions.
  • Ecological and community-focused approach: By choosing this kit, you support a sustainable sector thanks to Métisse RT, an innovative insulation made from recycled fibres and manufactured in France.
  • Simplified installation: The selection of materials has been guided by ease of application, making the insulation of your L4H3 accessible to everyone, without requiring advanced technical skills.
  • All-in-one solution: All the components necessary for complete and lasting insulation of your L4H3 are provided.

Cutting-edge materials for lasting insulation, both for your van and for the planet

Our L4H3 kit strategically integrates three types of insulation, each optimised for distinct areas of your vehicle to guarantee overall and consistent performance.

Armaflex AF: The Essential for side panels, ceiling and wheel arches

Armaflex AF is THE reference material for insulation of vans, recognised for its excellent ability to manage heat and noise.

  • 19mm self-adhesive Armaflex AF with integrated vapour barrier: Essential for the large ceiling surface of your L4H3. Its integrated vapour barrier layer effectively combats condensation, whilst the 19mm thickness guarantees maximum insulating performance.
  • 10mm self-adhesive Armaflex AF: Ideal for wheel arches, often curved and sources of vibration, as well as structural reinforcements where space is more restricted.

4mm Cork Roll: The natural and robust alternative for flooring

Cork presents itself as a natural, flexible and resilient solution, perfectly suited to floor insulation in large vans.

  • Excellent moisture resistance: It provides effective insulation whilst remaining thin, lightweight and inherently rot-proof.
  • Stable and healthy base: Easy to install, it creates a solid and healthy base surface without unnecessarily overloading your vehicle.

Métisse RT 45mm: The eco-responsible and flexible insulation for complex areas and doors

Métisse RT, characterised by its flexibility, recycled origin and local manufacture, stands out as the optimal choice for the insulation challenges of L4H3 vehicles, particularly corners, narrow recesses and doors.

  • Ecological production chain and community-focused approach: Made from at least 70% recycled cotton and 15% polyester to ensure fibre bonding, this material is manufactured from textiles collected by the Emmaüs network in France. It is fully recyclable and actively contributes to the solidarity economy by supporting local employment.
  • Remarkable thermal performance: With a thermal conductivity of 0.039 W/m⋅K, the 45mm Métisse RT offers excellent thermal phase shift. It keeps your van cool in summer and warm in winter, reducing your energy consumption.
  • Effective noise reduction: It significantly reduces external noise (traffic, rain, wind) up to 68 dB, depending on the installation technique.
  • Longevity and safety: Treated to be fire-resistant, antifungal and antibacterial, Métisse RT guarantees lasting and secure insulation.
  • Healthy indoor environment: A+ certified for its low VOC emissions, it ensures interior air quality without harmful substances.
  • Easy handling: Its lightness, non-irritating nature and ease of cutting greatly simplify its installation, even in the most complex spaces of your L4H3.

FAQ - L4H3 Insulation Kit

Which vehicles are compatible with this insulation kit?

This kit is exclusively developed for very large L4H3 type vans, offering the largest volumes available on the market. It is compatible with models such as Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Renault Master, Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or Iveco Daily in their L4H3 versions. Material volumes are designed for these dimensions.

Is the vapour barrier essential when installing Métisse RT?

Yes, for an L4H3, the vapour barrier is absolutely vital. Given the large volume and potential for humidity, it is imperative to use a hygrovariable vapour barrier such as the supplied Proclima Intello. It not only protects the Métisse RT from condensation, but also ensures the health and durability of your entire conversion by avoiding problems related to humidity.

Can I install this insulation kit over sprayed cork?

Although sprayed cork can be an interesting first layer, it is not ideal to directly overlay self-adhesive Armaflex if the surface is not perfectly smooth. However, sprayed cork is compatible with the installation of Métisse RT (with vapour barrier). If you already have sprayed cork, assess the surface condition before applying other insulation or contact us for personalised advice.

What is the lifespan of this insulation kit?

The lifespan of this insulation kit is designed to be maximum, thanks to the use of professional materials renowned for their longevity (Armaflex, Cork, Métisse RT). Careful installation and proper humidity management in the vehicle (via ventilation and vapour barrier) will guarantee optimal performance for many years, well beyond 20 years.

Does the large volume of the L4H3 make insulation more difficult?

The large volume of the L4H3 means more surface area to cover, but our kit is designed to simplify this task. The materials are easy to handle, and quantities are pre-calculated. The height allows some ease for working. The most crucial step remains condensation management, making the vapour barrier even more important in these large spaces.
