Step 2: Insulate the walls and ceiling

Unroll the Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm onto the side walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom. Remove the protective film gradually, section by section, smoothing by hand to eliminate air bubbles. On the ceiling, add mechanical fixings every 500 mm in addition to the adhesive.

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces

Before any installation, thoroughly degrease the metal sheet with Cleaner Armaflex, working from top to bottom. This step determines how well the adhesive holds over time: grease and dust prevent a perfect bond. Also prepare your battens and mechanical fixings, which should be fitted before the insulation to avoid crushing it.

Step 3: Treat reinforcements and wheel arches

Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm fits into narrower areas: uprights, sills, structural reinforcements and wheel arches. Thinner and more flexible than the 19 mm, it conforms to complex shapes without force. Cut it with a fresh blade and a 5 mm margin to compensate for irregularities in the metal sheet.

Step 4: Insulate the doors

Doors are hard-to-reach areas, poorly suited to a rigid panel. Cut the Métisse RT to the shape of the inner door panel and fix it with contact adhesive. Then apply the Proclima Intello vapour barrier on the interior side: essential with a fibrous insulator, it prevents moisture from building up against the metal sheet. Fix it with the dedicated double-sided tape.

Step 5: Seal the joints

Every joint between two strips of Armaflex ChezMoi, every corner and every connection with a cut must be sealed with Armaflex ChezMoi Tape. A joint left bare, even a few millimetres, is enough to create a cold spot where condensation builds up permanently, with a risk of corrosion on the metal sheet. Be generous: better to have one roll too many than untreated joints.

Step 6: Fit the floor

Apply high-performance spray adhesive to the floor sheet metal, then unroll the 4 mm cork over the top. Flexible and thin, it uses virtually no underfloor height while effectively insulating against cold rising from the ground. Once laid, your L2H2 is ready to receive its final floor covering.

Insulate your L2H2 without compromise, from floor to ceiling

Armaflex ChezMoi, designed specifically for van conversion (no longer repurposed from building insulation like the old AF), is featured in this L2H2 kit alongside Métisse RT and cork, with quantities already calibrated for this format. Together, these three materials cover walls, ceiling, doors, wheel arches and floor — with no assembly complexity or calculations to do yourself.

Compatible with L2H2 vans on the market (Renault Master, Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Jumper, Fiat Ducato, Mercedes Sprinter, Ford Transit and equivalents), this kit brings together all the necessary adhesives and accessories in a single order.

  • Quantities calibrated for an L2H2: no more guesswork or unnecessary offcuts — every element is sized for this format.
  • Armaflex ChezMoi, designed for the van: unlike the old AF designed for buildings, the ChezMoi is developed specifically for van conversion.
  • Insulation that covers everything: walls, ceiling, doors, wheel arches and floor, with the necessary adhesives and accessories.
  • Easy installation with no prior experience: self-adhesive materials or easy to cut and position.
  • An eco-responsible choice for difficult areas: the Métisse RT, made in France from recycled textiles, effectively insulates doors and tight corners.

Materials chosen for their role in insulation

Armaflex ChezMoi — the insulation designed for the van

Successor to the Armaflex AF, the ChezMoi uses the same closed-cell technology, in a formulation designed from the outset for van conversion rather than building insulation. Its integrated vapour barrier eliminates the need to add a separate vapour control layer on the walls and ceiling: one less step, and one less potential point of failure.

  • Role in the kit: walls, ceiling, reinforcements, wheel arches
  • Thickness / packaging: 19 mm (6 m² roll) and 10 mm (10 m² roll)
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.035 W/(m·K)
  • Integrated vapour barrier: closed cells, no vapour control layer to add
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban®, integrated into the material
  • Service temperature: -50 °C to +85 °C
  • VOC emissions: A+ rating (ISO 16 000)
  • Manufacturer's warranty: 10 years
  • Origin / manufacturing: Europe, Armacell technology

Métisse RT — the flexible insulation for hard-to-reach areas

Made in France by the Emmaüs network from recycled textiles, the Métisse RT slips into the doors and tight corners that Armaflex cannot cover without complex cutting. Its flexibility makes it an ideal solution for hard-to-reach areas, provided it is combined with a vapour control layer.

  • Role in the kit: doors, reinforcements
  • Thickness / packaging: 45 mm (panel)
  • Density: 20 kg/m³
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.039 W/(m·K)
  • Moisture resistance: requires a vapour control layer (included in the kit)
  • Fire reaction: fire-retardant treated
  • Mould resistance: antifungal and antibacterial treatment
  • VOC emissions: A+ rating
  • Origin / manufacturing: France, Emmaüs network (min. 70% recycled cotton)

Cork — the natural floor insulation

Naturally rot-proof and moisture-resistant, cork insulates the floor without adding unnecessary thickness. Its lightness and flexibility make it a simple solution to apply with spray adhesive, directly onto the metal sheet.

  • Role in the kit: floor
  • Thickness / packaging: 4 mm (4 m² roll)
  • Moisture resistance: rot-proof, naturally water-resistant
  • Origin / manufacturing: natural material
