Powering your van: choosing the right BLUETTI power station

Sizing a van's battery is above all a question of actual consumption. A 12V compressor fridge runs continuously and is often the biggest energy draw — between 30 and 60 Wh depending on the outside temperature. Add to that LED lighting, the water pump, device charging, and possibly a supplementary electric heater. For one autonomous night without recharging, you typically need between 300 and 600 Wh of usable energy. For several consecutive days of off-grid camping, aim for 1 kWh and beyond.

How a BLUETTI setup works in a van

A BLUETTI power station sits freely in the van — under a bed, in a storage compartment, on a low shelf — with no permanent fixings or complex wiring. The flexible solar panel is glued or screwed onto the roof and connected via a standard MC4 cable. While driving, the Charger 1 or Charger 2 plugs the station into the alternator and recharges it at 560 or 1,200 W without drawing on the starter battery. The station's 230V sockets power domestic appliances directly — coffee maker, laptop, chargers — with no additional converter.
