How many rolls of Armaflex Chez Moi 25 mm do you need for your van?

Van size Examples 25 mm rolls
Compact~10–13 m² VW T5/T6, short-wheelbase Transit Custom, Trafic L1 3–4
Mid-size~14–17 m² Trafic L2, Jumpy/Expert XL, Ducato L1H1 4–5
Large L2H2~17–21 m² Ducato/Boxer/Jumper L2H2, Master, Sprinter 5–6
XL L3–L4~22–28 m² L3H2 → L4H3, large vans 6–7

4 m² roll (4 m × 1 m) — the thicker the insulation, the shorter the roll. Remember to allow an extra 5 mm for each cut. For a more precise estimate, use the calculator below.

Why move up to 25 mm?

Armaflex Chez Moi 25 mm makes sense when 19 mm starts to fall short for your project. It offers around 30% more thermal resistance with a fairly modest loss of space — just a few extra millimetres on the walls, barely noticeable once the lining is fitted.

Suitable projects

Nordic destinations, extended stays at altitude, summers in the desert, or a van used year-round whatever the season — 25 mm is the thickness that takes a van from "well insulated" to "comfortable even in challenging conditions". Its closed-cell foam retains its insulating properties regardless of ambient humidity, unlike polyurethane foam, which becomes less effective as humidity rises.

Two layers for even more insulation

Two 25 mm layers stacked together give you 50 mm of insulation in total. The material remains flexible, making it easier to layer even on curved surfaces. For deeper flat areas, this two-layer approach offers good value for money.

💡 Good to know: the 25 mm costs less than the 19 mm while providing more insulation — a sensible choice if your walls and ceiling can accommodate a few extra millimetres.

When should you choose 25 mm?

The 25 mm can be used in three configurations, depending on how far you want to take your project:

  • Instead of 19 mm for demanding destinations — on walls and ceilings, where the space between structural members allows
  • A step up before 32 mm — better performance than 19 mm and easier to install than 32 mm, useful when your budget or available space rules out 32 mm
  • Two layers (2 × 25 = 50 mm) — for the most ambitious projects, in deeper flat areas
💡 To put the full range in perspective: 6 or 10 mm for narrow pillars and reinforcements, 19 mm for standard conditions, 25 mm for cold destinations, 32 mm for extreme conditions.

How to install it, step by step

1
Install your structural supports before the insulationFit battens, rails and permanent supports first. Insulation compressed beneath a fixing loses much of its insulating ability.
2
Degrease the sheet metal with Armaflex CleanerAvoid acetone and white spirit: their different chemical properties could weaken the adhesive bond over time.
3
Cut with a fresh blade (allow an extra 5 mm)At 25 mm, the elastomer wears blades down even faster — change them every 3 to 4 cuts for clean edges.
4
Check the fit before sticking it down, with the backing film still in placeOnce you remove the backing film, it’s stuck down for good. Peel it back in 20 cm sections, smoothing by hand to push out any bubbles, then press firmly.
5
Seal the joints with Armaflex ChezMoi TapeEven an unsealed joint just a few millimetres wide can create a condensation point that eventually damages the sheet metal.
🎵 Acoustic option: install theArmaComfort Barrier B 2 mm directly onto the sheet metal before the 25 mm to help reduce vibration and road noise a little.

Frequently asked questions

Armaflex Chez Moi 19 mm or 25 mm for my project?

The 19 mm covers the vast majority of projects in France and Central Europe. Move up to 25 mm if you regularly head to the mountains or Nordic countries, face harsh winters, or live in your van year-round.

25 mm or two layers of 19 mm?

The 25 mm costs less than the 19 mm while providing more insulation — often the simplest choice for flat and curved surfaces alike, in a single layer.

Can you install two layers of 25 mm?

Yes — 2 × 25 mm = 50 mm of insulation in total. The material’s flexibility makes it easier to layer, even on curved surfaces.

Does Armaflex Chez Moi replace AF?

Yes, since April 2026. The same technology, with a formula revised for vans. Both remain available until the end of 2026, when AF will be discontinued.
