Charge your EcoFlow station while driving: the 600 W alternator charger takes over

In a converted van, the road is a source of energy. You just need to know how to make the most of it!

The EcoFlow 600 Alternator Charger turns every kilometre into stored electricity: connected between your vehicle's starter battery and your EcoFlow portable power station, it captures the surplus energy produced by the alternator while you drive, and converts it into usable charge to power your appliances when stationary. No more relying solely on solar or a campsite hook-up to stay self-sufficient — simply driving is enough to maintain your energy reserve.

The charger installed in a car boot connected to a Delta

With a charging power of up to 600 W, this DC-DC charger charges significantly faster than a simple cigarette lighter socket (limited to 120–150 W). It accepts both 12 V and 24 V starter batteries, making it compatible with the full range of vans and light commercial vehicles commonly converted. Connection to the EcoFlow station is made via the supplied XT60 output cable (1 m), or via an XT150 cable purchased separately to access full power and unlock advanced modes.

Because that is what makes this charge converter special: paired with an EcoFlow station equipped with an XT150 port (such as the DELTA 3, the DELTA 3 Plus or the DELTA Pro 3), it offers three distinct operating modes manageable from the EcoFlow app (Wi-Fi / Bluetooth):

  • Charging mode — the main mode: while driving, the alternator charges your portable station up to 600 W.
  • Reverse charging mode — the portable station or a solar panel charges the vehicle's starter battery (up to 600 W). Useful for maintaining a discharged engine battery.
  • Battery maintenance mode — the station slowly charges and keeps the starter battery at an optimal level (100 W max), ideal during long periods of parking.

With an XT60 connection (cable supplied), only charging mode is available — which remains the primary function for the vast majority of van use cases. The EcoFlow app also allows you to configure the charger's starting voltage according to your vehicle, with built-in protection against excessive discharge of the engine battery. Operation is made easy by automatic start-up when the vehicle is switched on (installation of the integrated ignition cable recommended by a professional) and by LED indicators that clearly show the operating status in real time.

Compact (224 × 153 × 38 mm, 1.1 kg), it mounts directly in your conversion space via the included screws or bolts, close to your portable power station. Note: compared to the EcoFlow 800 W Alternator Charger, the 600 W model is more compact and more geared towards lightweight nomadic installations where the portable station remains the heart of the system. Complete your setup with an EcoFlow 160W solar panel for combined solar and alternator charging, and never rely on an external socket again.

How to install the EcoFlow 600 Alternator Charger?

Installation requires a basic knowledge of automotive electrics and is recommended to be carried out by a qualified professional, particularly for the ignition cable connection. The main steps are as follows:

  • Route the input cable (8 AWG, 5 m supplied) from the passenger compartment to the engine compartment through the firewall.
  • Connect the 125 A fuse cable to the positive (+) terminal of the starter battery, and the negative wire (−) to the chassis (clean earth point, free of paint).
  • Connect the ALT IN end of the input cable to the ALT IN port of the charger.
  • Connect the XT60 output cable (14 AWG, 1 m supplied) between the charger's BATTERY port and the XT60 port of your EcoFlow station.
  • Mount the charger on the bodywork or chassis using the supplied self-tapping screws or M4 bolts (two methods depending on the surface: soft or hard materials).
  • Configure the device via the EcoFlow app before first use (vehicle type, battery voltage, installation method).

For earthing, make sure to remove any trace of paint or rust from the chassis fixing point. Secure the cables with cable ties (supplied) to avoid any contact with moving parts or heat sources. The charger location must be dry, ventilated, and away from flammable materials — do not recess it.
