Step 2: Insulate walls and ceiling

Unroll Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm onto the walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom and peeling off the protective film as you go.

Smooth each section by hand to expel air, then reinforce the ceiling with mechanical fixings every 500 mm.

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces

Degrease the sheet metal with Armaflex Cleaner, from top to bottom, before any installation. A perfectly clean and dry surface is essential: the slightest trace of grease or dust will prevent the adhesive from holding over time.

Fit your battens and mechanical fixings before the insulation, so as not to crush it once in place.

Step 3: Treat reinforcements and wheel arches

Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm, thinner and more flexible, fits into the uprights, sills and wheel arches that the 19 mm cannot conform to.

Cut it with a fresh blade and a 5 mm margin to compensate for irregularities in the sheet metal.

Step 4: Fill the doors with flakes

Apply the Proclima Intello vapour barrier using the adhesive tape, making sure to leave a large enough opening. Inject the Armaflex flakes, then close the vapour barrier as you fill. Tamp down lightly to avoid air pockets, but without compressing the material.

Once all the nooks of the door are filled, finish sealing the vapour barrier with the adhesive tape to block water vapour.

Step 5: Seal the joints

Every join between two strips of Armaflex ChezMoi, every corner and every cut must be sealed with Armaflex ChezMoi Tape. A single exposed spot is enough to create a cold bridge where condensation sets in, with a risk of corrosion on the sheet metal.

Be generous — this is not the time to be heavy-handed with the light touch!

No complex cutting, even on the long wheelbase of an L3H3

Armaflex ChezMoi insulates your L3H3 van from floor to ceiling, including the walls and reinforcements.

Yet the larger the van, the more doors and hard-to-reach nooks there are. To make insulating these tight spaces easier, Armaflex flakes are poured directly into the cavity, with no cutting to adjust to the millimetre. Cork insulates the floor, and Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm takes care of everything else.

The successor to Armaflex AF, ChezMoi uses the same closed-cell technology in a formulation designed from the outset for van conversion rather than construction. Its integrated vapour barrier means there is no need to add a separate vapour check to the walls and ceiling.

Cork — the natural floor insulator

Naturally rot-proof and moisture-resistant, cork insulates the floor without adding unnecessary thickness. Its lightness and flexibility make it easy to install with spray adhesive, directly onto the metal sheet.
