The 10 mm insulation fits where space is tight: the floor, deep structural ribs, wheel arches and pillars. It insulates the metalwork while preserving headroom. The kit contains 1 roll, covering 10 m².

Tape, Cleaner, gloves and utility knife: preparation, cutting and sealing joints

Tape seals the joints between sheets to limit thermal bridging, while Cleaner degreases the metalwork for good adhesion. The kit contains 4 rolls of Tape, providing 60 m of tape, and 1 Cleaner. A pair of gloves and a utility knife are included free for handling and cutting the insulation.

How do I install the Armaflex ChezMoi kit in a Fiat Ducato L3H3?

Armaflex ChezMoi is self-adhesive: it can be fitted without glue, using a few simple tools, and requires no special skills. Just follow the steps in order. Our blog article on fitting Armaflex explains each step.

1. Prepare the panels. Identify the areas to insulate. If you’re planning wood panelling, fit your fixing battens first.
2. Clean the panels before fitting. Dampen a clean cloth with Cleaner and wipe down all the metalwork: it must be clean and free of grease for the adhesive to stick. Cleaner contains a solvent and gives off fumes: wear a mask and work outside if possible.
3. Mark out. Transfer the dimensions of each area onto the non-adhesive side of the insulation, starting with the floor and pillars (10 mm), then the walls and ceiling (19 mm).
4. Cut to size. Put on the gloves included free with the kit and cut the sheets to shape using the kit’s utility knife, or an Armacell knife set if you prefer. The foam cuts cleanly.
5. Stick in place. Peel back the protective film as you go, pressing the sheet onto the metalwork from the centre outwards to push out any air.
6. Seal the joints. Apply Tape over every joint between two sheets to limit thermal bridging.

Frequently asked questions about insulating a Fiat Ducato L3H3

How can I tell if my Ducato is an L3H3?

The size combines length (L1, L2, L3) and roof height (H1, H2, H3). Measure the usable length of the load floor: approximately 2 670 mm for an L1, 3 120 mm for an L2 and 3 705 mm for an L3. Then measure the interior roof height: approximately 1 662 mm for an H1, 1 932 mm for an H2 and 2 172 mm for an H3. An L3H3 measures approximately 3 705 mm by 2 172 mm.

Do I need DIY experience to fit this kit?

No. The insulation is self-adhesive and can be cut with the utility knife included free with the kit: clean, cut, stick, then seal the joints with Tape. Just follow the six steps in the installation section; the video shows you how.

Do I need to add glue?

No. The self-adhesive side of Armaflex ChezMoi sticks directly to the metalwork. Cleaner is only used to degrease it so the adhesive bonds properly.

Is this kit suitable for a Ducato-based motorhome?

It is designed for an L3H3 Ducato panel van being converted into a campervan or van-based motorhome. For an A-class or coachbuilt motorhome, the living area has different dimensions: measure it before choosing how much Armaflex you need.

Can I double the thickness for very cold conditions?

Yes, you can layer two sheets in exposed areas if you drive in very cold conditions. You’ll need to add extra rolls of Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm to the kit.
