22 m² of Armaflex ChezMoi calculated to insulate your Peugeot Expert L2H1

This kit brings together all the Armaflex ChezMoi you need to insulate a Peugeot Expert L2H1 for a campervan conversion: 1 roll of 10 mm insulation, 2 rolls of 19 mm insulation, 2 rolls of Tape and 1 Cleaner, with a pair of gloves and a utility knife included free. The quantities are calculated for the Expert L2H1: order everything in one go, with no need to estimate the area or add extra products.

Armaflex ChezMoi is an elastomeric foam made in Europe using Armacell technology. Its self-adhesive backing sticks directly to clean metalwork, with no extra glue needed. The closed-cell structure also acts as a vapour barrier (μ> 7,000): there is no separate vapour control layer to fit, and less condensation forms on the metalwork.

With a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/(m·K) and a service temperature range of −50 °C to +85 °C, it insulates against cold and heat, whether your Expert becomes a campervan or remains a work van. The A+ rating (ISO 16000, VOC-free) and the Microban® antimicrobial treatment integrated into the material matter in a space where you sleep. Its fire performance meets the FMVSS automotive standard, and the manufacturer guarantees the material for 10 years.

The kit is straightforward to use: 10 mm insulation for the floor and uprights, 19 mm for the walls and ceiling, Tape to seal the joins, and Cleaner to clean the metalwork before fitting.

Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm: insulate the walls and ceiling

The 19 mm thickness is the standard choice for large areas. It provides the most insulation where space allows: on the Expert’s side walls, doors and ceiling. The kit contains 2 rolls, covering 12 m².

  • Thickness: 19 mm
  • Pack size: 6 m² roll (6 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C
  • Vapour barrier: integrated, μ> 7,000
  • Service temperature: −50 °C to +85 °C
  • Fire performance: FMVSS automotive standard
  • Air quality: A+ rating (ISO 16000), VOC-free
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban® integrated into the material
  • Warranty: 10 years (manufacturer)

  • Thickness: 10 mm
  • Pack size: 10 m² roll (10 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C
  • Vapour barrier: integrated, μ> 7,000

Tape, Cleaner, gloves and utility knife: preparation, cutting and sealing joins

Tape seals the joins between sheets to reduce thermal bridging, while Cleaner degreases the metalwork for good adhesion. The kit contains 2 rolls of Tape, providing 30 m of tape, and 1 Cleaner. A pair of gloves and a utility knife are included free for handling and cutting the insulation.

  • Tape: 15 m × 50 mm self-adhesive roll, 2 rolls in the kit
  • Cleaner: solvent-based Armaflex cleaner, 1 L bottle, applied with a cloth, 1 in the kit
  • Gloves: 1 pair, included free with the kit
  • Utility knife: 1, included free with the kit

Compatible with: Peugeot Expert L2H1

The kit is sized for the load area of a Peugeot Expert L2H1 panel van (Standard length) from 2016 onwards: 2,512 mm long, 1,636 mm wide and 1,397 mm high, with 1,258 mm between the wheel arches. These dimensions are a guide: measure your vehicle before fitting, especially if it has already been converted.

Please note: The bulkhead separating the cab is not included in the areas covered by the kit.

The closed-cell structure of Armaflex ChezMoi already acts as a vapour barrier, so there is no need for a separate vapour control layer.

The Expert L2H1 shares its bodywork with the Citroën Jumpy M and Toyota Proace L2H1: see the Citroën Jumpy M and Toyota Proace L2H1 kits. Other Expert sizes: L1H1 and L3H1.

How do I fit the Armaflex ChezMoi kit in a Peugeot Expert L2H1?

Armaflex ChezMoi is self-adhesive: it can be fitted without glue, using a few simple tools, and requires no special skills. Just follow the steps in order. Our blog article on fitting Armaflex explains each step in detail.

  1. Prepare the walls. Identify the areas to insulate. If you plan to fit wooden panelling, install the fixing battens first.
  2. Clean the walls before fitting. Dampen a clean cloth with Cleaner and wipe down all the metalwork: it needs to be clean and free of grease for the adhesive to bond. Cleaner contains a solvent and gives off fumes: wear a mask and work outdoors if possible.
  3. Mark out. Mark the dimensions of each area on the non-adhesive side of the insulation, starting with the floor and uprights (10 mm), then the walls and ceiling (19 mm).
  4. Cut to size. Put on the gloves included free and cut the sheets to shape with the utility knife from the kit, or with an Armacell knife set if you prefer. The foam cuts cleanly.
  5. Stick in place. Peel back the protective film as you go, pressing the sheet onto the metalwork from the centre outwards to remove trapped air.
  6. Seal the joins. Apply Tape over every join between two sheets to reduce thermal bridging.

Frequently asked questions about insulating a Peugeot Expert L2H1

How do I know if my Expert is an L2H1?

The Expert panel van comes in three lengths (Compact, Standard and Long), all with the same roof height: these are our L1H1, L2H1 and L3H1 sizes. Measure the usable load-floor length: approximately 2,162 mm for an L1H1, 2,512 mm for an L2H1 and 2,862 mm for an L3H1. The usable interior height is approximately 1,397 mm on all three.

Do I need DIY experience to fit this kit?

No. The insulation is self-adhesive and can be cut with the utility knife included free in the kit: clean, cut, stick, then seal the joins with Tape. Just follow the six steps in the installation section; the video shows you how.

Do I need to add glue?

No, the self-adhesive backing of Armaflex ChezMoi sticks directly to the metalwork. Cleaner is only needed to degrease it so the adhesive bonds properly.

Is this kit suitable for a Peugeot Traveller?

It is designed for an Expert panel van being converted into a campervan. The Peugeot Traveller is a glazed passenger version with an existing interior trim, so it does not have the same areas to insulate: measure the areas you need to cover before deciding how much Armaflex to buy.

Can I double the thickness for very cold weather?

Yes, you can layer two thicknesses in exposed areas if you travel in very cold conditions. You will need to add rolls of Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm to the kit.

Armaflex ChezMoi or Armaflex AF: what’s the difference?

Armaflex ChezMoi is the successor to Armaflex AF for vehicle conversions: the same self-adhesive foam, with fire performance tested to the FMVSS automotive standard. Our article compares the two ranges point by point.

Is there a kit for a Jumpy or Proace of the same size?

Yes: the Citroën Jumpy and Toyota Proace have their own product listings, with the same quantities. See the Citroën Jumpy M kit and Toyota Proace L2H1 kit.

Complete the insulation and interior finish of your Peugeot Expert L2H1
