Comfort in summer and winter for your Peugeot Expert L3H1: 22 m² of Armaflex ChezMoi

Keep the warmth in during winter and limit heat build-up in summer in a Peugeot Expert L3H1: that is what Armaflex ChezMoi does, insulating the metal bodywork against both cold and heat. This kit brings together the quantities calculated for the Expert L3H1: 1 roll of 10 mm insulation, 2 rolls of 19 mm insulation, 2 rolls of Tape and 1 Cleaner, with a free pair of gloves and utility knife.

Armaflex ChezMoi is an elastomeric foam made in Europe using Armacell technology. Its self-adhesive side sticks directly to clean metal bodywork, with no extra glue needed. The closed cells also act as a vapour barrier (μ> 7 000): there is no separate vapour control layer to install, and less condensation forms on the metal bodywork.

With a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/(m·K) and an operating range of −50 °C to +85 °C, it insulates against both cold and heat, whether your Expert becomes a campervan or remains a work van. The A+ rating (ISO 16000, VOC-free) and Microban® antimicrobial treatment integrated into the material matter in a space where you sleep. Its fire performance meets the FMVSS automotive standard, and the manufacturer guarantees the material for 10 years.

The kit is straightforward to use: 10 mm insulation for the floor and uprights, 19 mm insulation for the walls and ceiling, Tape to seal the joins and Cleaner to clean the metal bodywork before installation.

Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm: insulate the walls and ceiling

The 19 mm foam is the standard thickness for large areas. It provides the most insulation where space allows: the Expert’s side walls, doors and ceiling. The kit contains 2 rolls, covering 12 m².

  • Thickness: 19 mm
  • Pack size: 6 m² roll (6 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C
  • Vapour barrier: integrated, μ> 7 000
  • Operating temperature: −50 °C to +85 °C
  • Fire performance: FMVSS automotive standard
  • Air quality: A+ rating (ISO 16000), VOC-free
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban® integrated into the material
  • Warranty: 10 years (manufacturer)

Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm: insulate the floor and uprights

The 10 mm foam fits where space is tight: the floor, deep structural ribs, wheel arches and uprights. It insulates the metal bodywork without taking up much headroom. The kit contains 1 roll, covering 10 m².

  • Thickness: 10 mm
  • Pack size: 10 m² roll (10 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C
  • Vapour barrier: integrated, μ> 7 000
  • Operating temperature: −50 °C to +85 °C
  • Fire performance: FMVSS automotive standard

Tape, Cleaner, gloves and utility knife: preparation, cutting and sealing joins

Tape seals the joins between sheets to limit thermal bridges, while Cleaner degreases the metal bodywork for good adhesion. The kit contains 2 rolls of Tape, giving you 30 m of tape, and 1 Cleaner. A pair of gloves and a utility knife are included free for handling and cutting the insulation.

  • Tape: 15 m × 50 mm adhesive roll, 2 rolls in the kit
  • Cleaner: solvent-based Armaflex cleaner, 1 L bottle, applied with a cloth, 1 in the kit
  • Gloves: 1 pair, included free with the kit
  • Utility knife: 1 utility knife, included free with the kit

Compatibility: Peugeot Expert L3H1

The kit is sized for the load area of a Peugeot Expert L3H1 panel van (Long length) from 2016 onwards: 2 862 mm long, 1 636 mm wide and 1 397 mm high, with 1 258 mm between the wheel arches. These dimensions are indicative: measure your vehicle before installation, especially if it has already been converted.

Please note: The partition separating the load area from the cab is not included in the surface area covered by the kit.

The closed cells of Armaflex ChezMoi already act as a vapour barrier, so no additional vapour control layer is needed.

The Expert L3H1 shares its bodywork with the Citroën Jumpy XL and Toyota Proace L3H1: see the Citroën Jumpy XL and Toyota Proace L3H1 kits. Other Expert sizes: L1H1 and L2H1.

How do you install the Armaflex ChezMoi kit in a Peugeot Expert L3H1?

Armaflex ChezMoi is self-adhesive: it needs no glue, can be installed with a few simple tools and requires no special skills. Just follow the steps in order. Our blog article on installing Armaflex explains each step in detail.

  1. Prepare the walls. Identify the areas to insulate. If you plan to add wooden panelling, fit your fixing battens first.
  2. Clean the walls before installation. Dampen a clean cloth with Cleaner and wipe down all the metal bodywork: it must be clean and free of grease for the adhesive to stick. Cleaner contains a solvent and gives off fumes: wear a mask and work outdoors if possible.
  3. Mark out. Transfer the measurements of each area onto the non-adhesive side of the insulation, starting with the floor and uprights (10 mm), then the walls and ceiling (19 mm).
  4. Cut. Put on the free gloves and cut the sheets to shape with the utility knife included in the kit, or with an Armacell knife kit if you prefer. The foam cuts cleanly.
  5. Stick down. Peel back the protective film as you go, pressing the sheet onto the metal bodywork from the centre outwards to push out any air.
  6. Seal the joins. Apply Tape over each join between two sheets to limit thermal bridges.

Frequently asked questions about insulating a Peugeot Expert L3H1

How can I tell if my Expert is an L3H1?

The Expert panel van comes in three lengths (Compact, Standard and Long), all with the same roof height: these correspond to our L1H1, L2H1 and L3H1 sizes. Measure the usable load floor length: approximately 2 162 mm for an L1H1, 2 512 mm for an L2H1 and 2 862 mm for an L3H1. The usable height, approximately 1 397 mm, is the same for all three.

Do I need DIY experience to install this kit?

No. The insulation is self-adhesive and can be cut with the utility knife included free in the kit: clean, cut, stick, then seal the joins with Tape. Just follow the six steps in the installation section; the video shows you how.

Do I need to add glue?

No, the self-adhesive side of Armaflex ChezMoi sticks directly to the metal bodywork. Cleaner is only used to degrease it so the adhesive bonds properly.

Is this kit suitable for a Peugeot Traveller?

It is designed for an Expert panel van being converted into a campervan. The Peugeot Traveller is a glazed passenger version with an existing interior trim, so it does not have the same areas to insulate: measure the areas you need to cover before deciding how much Armaflex you need.

Can I double the thickness for very cold conditions?

Yes, you can layer two sheets on exposed areas if you drive in very cold conditions. You will need to add extra rolls of Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm to the kit.

Armaflex ChezMoi or Armaflex AF: what is the difference?

Armaflex ChezMoi is the successor to Armaflex AF for vehicle conversions: the same self-adhesive foam, with fire performance tested to the FMVSS automotive standard. Our article compares the two ranges point by point.

Is there a kit for a Jumpy or Proace of the same size?

Yes: the Citroën Jumpy and Toyota Proace have their own product pages, with the same quantities. See the Citroën Jumpy XL kit and the Toyota Proace L3H1 kit.
