Tape, Cleaner, gloves and utility knife: preparation, cutting and sealing joins

Tape seals the joins between the sheets to help limit thermal bridges, while Cleaner degreases the metal bodywork for good adhesion. The kit contains 1 roll of Tape, providing 15 m of tape, and 1 bottle of Cleaner. A pair of gloves and a utility knife are included free for handling and cutting the insulation.

The kit is sized for the load area of a Peugeot Partner L2H1 commercial van (Long version) from 2018 onwards: 2,167 mm long, 1,527 mm wide and 1,200 mm high, with 1,229 mm between the wheel arches. How do I fit the Armaflex ChezMoi kit in a Peugeot Partner L2H1?

Armaflex ChezMoi is self-adhesive: it can be fitted without extra adhesive, using a few simple tools, and requires no special skills. Just follow the steps in order. Our blog article on fitting Armaflex explains each step in detail.

1. Prepare the walls. Identify the areas to insulate. If you plan to fit wood panelling, install the fixing battens first.
2. Clean the walls before fitting. Dampen a clean cloth with Cleaner and wipe down all the metal bodywork: it must be clean and free of grease for the adhesive to stick. Cleaner contains a solvent and gives off fumes: wear a mask and work outdoors if possible.
3. Mark out. Transfer the dimensions of each area onto the non-adhesive side of the insulation, starting with the floor and uprights (10 mm), then the walls and ceiling (19 mm).
4. Cut. Put on the gloves included free and cut the sheets to shape using the utility knife from the kit, or an Armacell knife kit if you prefer. The foam cuts cleanly.
5. Stick down. Peel off the protective film as you go, pressing the sheet onto the metal bodywork from the centre outwards to push out any air.
6. Seal the joins. Apply Tape over each join between two sheets to help limit thermal bridges.

How can I tell if my Partner is an L2H1?

The Partner van comes in two lengths (Standard and Long), with just one roof height: these correspond to our L1H1 and L2H1 sizes. Measure the usable length of the load floor: approximately 1 817 mm for an L1H1 and 2 167 mm for an L2H1.

Do I need DIY skills to fit this kit?

No. The insulation is self-adhesive and can be cut with the utility knife included free in the kit: clean, cut, stick, then seal the joins with Tape. Just follow the six steps in the installation section; the video shows you how.

Do I need to add adhesive?

No, the self-adhesive backing on Armaflex ChezMoi sticks directly to the metal bodywork. Cleaner is only used to degrease it so the adhesive holds properly.

Is this kit suitable for a Peugeot Rifter?

It is designed for a panel-sided Partner van being converted into a campervan. The Peugeot Rifter is a passenger version with windows and an existing interior trim, so it does not have the same areas to insulate: measure the areas you need to cover before choosing how much Armaflex to buy.

Can I double the thickness for very cold weather?

Yes, you can layer two sheets in exposed areas if you travel in very cold conditions. You will need to add rolls of Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm to the kit.
