Mixed insulation kit L3H2 Armaflex ChezMoi - Métisse RT - Cork converted van & campervan
Mixed insulation kit L3H2 Armaflex ChezMoi - Métisse RT - Cork converted van & campervan

Step 2: Insulate the walls and ceiling
Roll out the Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm onto the walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom and peeling off the protective film as you go.
Smooth each section by hand to remove air, then reinforce the ceiling with mechanical fixings every 500 mm.
Step 1: Prepare the surfaces
Degrease the metal sheet with Cleaner Armaflex, working from top to bottom, before any installation.
A perfectly clean and dry surface is essential: the slightest trace of grease or dust will prevent the adhesive from holding over time.
Fit your battens and mechanical fixings before the insulation, so as not to compress it once in place.

Step 3: Treat reinforcements and wheel arches
Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm, thinner and more flexible, fits into uprights, longitudinal beams and wheel arches that the 19 mm cannot conform to.
Cut it with a fresh blade, leaving a 5 mm margin to compensate for irregularities in the metal sheet.
Step 4: Insulate the doors with Métisse RT
Cut the Métisse RT to the shape of the door panel using a smooth or serrated blade knife, leaving a slight margin for a snug fit.
Then lay the Proclima Intello vapour barrier on the interior side — essential with a fibrous insulator: it prevents moisture from building up against the metal sheet.
Fix it in place with the dedicated double-sided adhesive tape.
Step 5: Seal the joints
Every joint between two lengths of Armaflex ChezMoi, every corner and every cut must be sealed with Tape Armaflex ChezMoi.
A single bare spot is enough to create a cold bridge where condensation sets in, with a risk of corrosion on the metal sheet as a result.
Be generous — this is not the time to have a light hand!

Step 6: Dress the floor
Apply high-performance spray adhesive to the floor metal sheet, then roll the 4 mm cork out on top.
Thin and flexible, it takes up almost no floor height while cutting out the cold rising from the ground.
Once installed, your van is fully insulated — you can move on to the next step of your fit-out!

Materials that make sense
This L3H2 insulation kit includes three complementary insulators, each suited to a specific area of your vehicle.
1. Armaflex ChezMoi: The ideal choice for walls, ceiling and wheel arches
The successor to the Armaflex AF, the Armaflex ChezMoi offers exceptional thermal and acoustic performance in a formulation designed from the outset for van conversions.
➡️Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm self-adhesive with integrated vapour barrier: Ideal for the ceiling of your L3H2, a critical area for condensation. Its 19 mm version ensures maximum insulation.
➡️Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm self-adhesive: Perfect for walls, reinforcements (not accessible from the inside) and wheel arches, which are often sources of unwanted noise.
➡️Treated with Microban®, it is resistant to bacteria and mould, with a 10-year manufacturer's guarantee.
2. 4 mm cork roll: The natural insulator for the floor
- Cork is a natural and high-performance solution, ideal for insulating the floor of your L3H2 van.
- Moisture resistant: It provides excellent insulation while remaining thin and lightweight.
- Stable and healthy base: Easy to install, it does not add unnecessary weight to your vehicle.
3. Métisse RT 45 mm: Flexibility, Eco-friendliness and Effectiveness for Doors and Hard-to-Reach Areas
Are you looking for an ecological alternative to Biofib for insulating your van?
Flexible, recycled and locally sourced, the Métisse RT is the perfect ally for the complex areas of your L3H2 that are difficult to insulate (reinforcements, angles, tight corners, doors).
- Ecological and Solidarity-driven: Made from a minimum of 70% recycled cotton (perhaps one of your old pairs of jeans!) + 15% polyester binder, it is produced locally in France via the Emmaüs network. By choosing it, you support local employment and the social and solidarity economy!
- Thermal Performance: With a thermal conductivity of 0.039 W/m⋅K, the Métisse RT 45 mm ensures excellent thermal phase shifting, keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. It reduces your heating requirements and slows heat entry in high temperatures.
- Acoustic Performance: It effectively absorbs outside disturbances (traffic, rain, wind) up to 68 dB.
- Safety and Durability: Treated with fire-retardant, antifungal and antibacterial agents, the Métisse RT is a durable and safe insulator for your L3H2.
- Health: A+ certified for VOC emissions, it releases no harmful fumes.
- Ease of Installation: Lightweight, non-irritating and easy to cut, it installs effortlessly even in the tightest corners of your L3H2.

FAQ - L3H2 insulation kit
Which vehicles are compatible with this insulation kit?
This kit is perfectly sized for large L3H2 panel vans, characterised by significant length and height. It is compatible with models such as the Renault Master, Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Ford Transit, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or Volkswagen Crafter in their L3H2 configurations. The material volumes are adapted to the surface area of these vehicles.
Can I install this insulation kit on top of sprayed cork?
Technically, it is possible to install our insulation kit on a sprayed cork base, provided the cork is perfectly dry, clean and smooth enough to allow the Armaflex to adhere. Sprayed cork can improve acoustic insulation and act as an anti-vibration layer, but make sure the surface is not too uneven so as not to compromise the adhesion of the other insulators.
What is the lifespan of this insulation kit?
The design of this insulation kit, with premium materials such as Armaflex, cork and Métisse RT, ensures remarkable durability, generally exceeding 15 to 20 years. To maximise this lifespan, careful installation, adequate ventilation and the absence of water infiltration are paramount. The intrinsic properties of the insulators contribute to their excellent resistance over time.
Is a vapour barrier essential when fitting the Métisse RT?
Yes, using a vapour barrier is absolutely essential, especially for large-volume vehicles like the L3H2, where the amount of water vapour generated inside can be significant. The Proclima Intello vapour barrier included in the kit is a key element for managing this moisture and preventing any condensation issues, thus protecting your insulation as a whole and the structure of the van.
How do I handle the insulation of uprights and reinforcements in an L3H2?
For uprights and reinforcements, which are potential thermal bridges, the kit includes 10 mm self-adhesive Armaflex ChezMoi. This thinner format adapts to the tight spaces and curves of these elements, ensuring continuous insulation and reducing heat loss. Precise cutting and careful application are essential.
