Man cleaning a van with Armaflex Cleaner

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces

Degrease the sheet metal with Armaflex Cleaner, working from top to bottom, before fitting anything. A perfectly clean and dry surface is essential: the slightest trace of grease or dust will prevent the adhesive from holding over time.

Fit your battens and mechanical fixings before the insulation, so as not to crush it once in place.

Step 2: Insulate the walls and ceiling

Roll out Armaflex ChezMoi 19mm onto the walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom and peeling off the protective film as you go.

Smooth each section by hand to expel any air, then reinforce the ceiling with mechanical fixings every 500mm.

Step 3: Treat reinforcements and wheel arches

Armaflex ChezMoi 10mm, thinner and more flexible, fits into the uprights, longitudinal beams and wheel arches that the 19mm cannot conform to.

Cut it with a fresh blade and a 5mm allowance to compensate for irregularities in the sheet metal.

Step 4: Insulate the doors with Biofib Trio

Cut the Biofib Trio to the shape of the inner door panel by tearing it, leaving a slight margin for a snug fit.

Then fit the Proclima Intello vapour barrier on the interior side — essential with a fibrous insulation: it prevents moisture from accumulating against the sheet metal.

Secure it with the dedicated double-sided tape.

Step 5: Seal the joints

Every joint between two lengths of Armaflex ChezMoi, every corner and every cut must be sealed with Armaflex ChezMoi Tape. A single exposed spot is enough to create a cold bridge where condensation sets in, with a risk of corrosion on the sheet metal as a result.

Be generous — now is not the time to have too light a hand!

Step 6: Fit the floor covering

Apply high-performance spray adhesive to the floor sheet metal, then unroll the 4 mm cork on top.

Thin and flexible, it takes up almost no floor-to-ceiling height while cutting out the cold rising from the ground.

Once fitted, your van is fully insulated — you can move on to the next stage of your conversion!

An insulator that holds its volume, kilometre after kilometre, for your L2H1

Armaflex ChezMoi insulates your L2H1 van from floor to ceiling, including the walls and reinforcements.

On the doors, Armaflex ChezMoi gives way to Biofib Trio: this natural-fibre panel (hemp, linen, cotton) fits into hard-to-reach areas without compressing over time, unlike some insulators that lose thickness with road vibrations. A vapour barrier completes the installation to prevent any condensation against the metal sheet. Cork finishes off the floor. Quantities already calibrated for this size, adhesives and accessories included.

Compatible with L2H1 vans on the market (Renault Trafic, Peugeot Expert, Citroën Jumpy, Ford Transit Custom, Volkswagen Transporter and equivalents), this kit covers walls, ceiling, doors, wheel arches and floor.

  • Quantities calibrated for an L2H1: no calculations needed on your part.
  • Armaflex ChezMoi, designed for the van: unlike the former AF, which was designed for building insulation.
  • Does not compress over time: Biofib Trio maintains its insulating volume over the kilometres.
  • Insulation that covers everything: walls, ceiling, doors, wheel arches and floor.
  • Designed and manufactured in France: hemp, linen and cotton, 85% from French supply chains.

Materials chosen for their role in insulation

Armaflex ChezMoi — the insulator designed for the van

Successor to the Armaflex AF, the ChezMoi uses the same closed-cell technology in a formulation designed from the outset for van conversion rather than building insulation. Its integrated vapour barrier means no separate vapour check needs to be added to the walls and ceiling.

  • Role in the kit: walls, ceiling, reinforcements, wheel arches
  • Thickness / packaging: 19 mm (6 m² roll) and 10 mm (10 m² roll)
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.035 W/(m·K)
  • Integrated vapour barrier: closed cells, no separate vapour check needed
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban®, integrated into the material
  • Service temperature: -50 °C to +85 °C
  • VOC emissions: A+ rating (ISO 16 000)
  • Manufacturer's warranty: 10 years
  • Origin / manufacturing: Europe, Armacell technology

Biofib Trio — the natural insulator for hard-to-reach areas

Made from hemp, linen and cotton (85% from French supply chains), Biofib Trio is designed and manufactured in France. Its natural hygroscopic regulation helps prevent excess moisture in the vehicle, and its structure does not compress even after thousands of kilometres.

  • Role in the kit: doors
  • Thickness / packaging: 45 mm (0.75 m² panel)
  • Density: 30 kg/m³
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.038 W/(m·K)
  • Thermal resistance (R): 1.15 m²·K/W
  • Hygroscopic regulation: yes, permeable to water vapour (µ ≤ 2)
  • Long-term stability: does not compress, natural spring-back effect
  • Origin / manufacturing: France, 85% from French supply chains (hemp, linen, cotton)

Cork — the natural floor insulator

Naturally rot-proof and moisture-resistant, cork insulates the floor without adding unnecessary thickness. Its lightness and flexibility make it easy to install with spray adhesive, directly onto the metal sheet.

  • Role in the kit: floor
  • Thickness / packaging: 4 mm (4 m² roll)
  • Moisture resistance: rot-proof, naturally water-resistant
  • Origin / manufacturing: natural material
