Man cleaning the interior walls of a van

Step 2: Insulate the walls and ceiling

Unroll the Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm over the walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom and removing the protective film as you go.

Smooth each section by hand to remove air, then secure the ceiling with mechanical fixings every 500 mm.

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces

Degrease the sheet metal with Cleaner Armaflex, working from top to bottom, before any fitting. A perfectly clean and dry surface is essential: the slightest trace of grease or dust will prevent the adhesive from holding over time.

Fit your battens and mechanical fixings before the insulation, so as not to compress it once in place.

Step 3: Treat the reinforcements and wheel arches

Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm, thinner and more flexible, fits into the uprights, side rails and wheel arches that the 19 mm cannot conform to.

Cut it with a fresh blade and a 5 mm margin to account for irregularities in the sheet metal.

Step 4: Insulate the doors with Biofib Trio

Cut the Biofib Trio to the shape of the door panel by tearing it, leaving a slight margin for a snug fit.

Then lay the Proclima Intello vapour barrier on the interior side — essential with a fibrous insulation: it prevents moisture from building up against the sheet metal.

Secure it with the dedicated double-sided adhesive tape.

Step 5: Seal the joins

Every join between two lengths of Armaflex ChezMoi, every corner and every cut must be sealed with Armaflex ChezMoi Tape.

A single bare spot is enough to create a cold bridge where condensation sets in, with the risk of corrosion on the sheet metal as a result.

Be generous — now is not the time to be heavy-handed!

Step 6: Fit the floor

Apply high-performance spray adhesive to the floor sheet metal, then roll out the 4 mm cork on top.

Thin and flexible, it barely takes up any headroom under the floor while cutting out the cold rising from the ground.

Once laid, your van is fully insulated — you can move on to the next step of your conversion!

Large volume, natural hygroscopic regulation for your L3H2

The Armaflex ChezMoi insulates your L3H2 van from floor to ceiling, including the walls and reinforcements.

On a large van, insulating tight corners can quickly become a headache: the Biofib Trio, fitted on the doors alongside the Armaflex ChezMoi, insulates naturally thanks to its composition of hemp, flax and cotton, while maintaining its volume over time. A vapour retarder secures the whole against condensation. Cork insulates the floor. Quantities already calibrated for this format, adhesives and accessories included.

Compatible with L3H2 vans on the market (Renault Master, Fiat Ducato, Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, Volkswagen Crafter and equivalents), this kit covers walls, ceiling, doors, wheel arches and floor.

  • Quantities calibrated for an L3H2: no calculations needed on your part, even for this large format.
  • Armaflex ChezMoi, designed for the van: unlike the former AF, which was designed for construction.
  • Natural hygroscopic regulation: the Biofib Trio absorbs and releases moisture.
  • Insulation that covers everything: walls, ceiling, doors, wheel arches and floor.
  • Designed and manufactured in France: hemp, flax and cotton, 85% French-sourced.

Materials chosen for their role in insulation

Armaflex ChezMoi — the insulation designed for the van

The successor to the Armaflex AF, the ChezMoi uses the same closed-cell technology in a formulation designed from the outset for van conversions rather than construction. Its integrated vapour barrier means there is no need to add a separate vapour retarder to the walls and ceiling.

  • Role in the kit: walls, ceiling, reinforcements, wheel arches
  • Thickness / packaging: 19 mm (6 m² roll) and 10 mm (10 m² roll)
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.035 W/(m·K)
  • Integrated vapour barrier: closed cells, no vapour retarder to add
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban®, integrated into the material
  • Service temperature: -50 °C to +85 °C
  • VOC emissions: A+ rating (ISO 16 000)
  • Manufacturer's warranty: 10 years
  • Origin / manufacture: Europe, Armacell technology

Biofib Trio — the natural insulator for hard-to-reach areas

Made from hemp, flax and cotton (85% French-sourced), the Biofib Trio is designed and manufactured in France. Its natural hygroscopic regulation helps prevent excess moisture in the vehicle, and its structure does not compress even after thousands of kilometres.

  • Role in the kit: doors
  • Thickness / packaging: 45 mm (0.75 m² panel)
  • Density: 30 kg/m³
  • Thermal conductivity (λ): 0.038 W/(m·K)
  • Thermal resistance (R): 1.15 m²·K/W
  • Hygroscopic regulation: yes, permeable to water vapour (µ ≤ 2)
  • Long-term durability: does not compress, natural spring-back effect
  • Origin / manufacture: France, 85% French supply chain (hemp, flax, cotton)

Cork — the natural floor insulator

Naturally rot-proof and moisture-resistant, cork insulates the floor without adding unnecessary thickness. Its lightness and flexibility make it an easy solution to apply with spray adhesive, directly onto the metal sheet.

  • Role in the kit: floor
  • Thickness / packaging: 4 mm (4 m² roll)
  • Moisture resistance: rot-proof, naturally water-resistant
  • Origin / manufacture: natural material
