Comfort in summer and winter in your Peugeot Boxer L2H1: 28 m² of Armaflex ChezMoi

Keep the warmth in during winter and limit heat build-up in summer in a Peugeot Boxer L2H1: that’s the role of Armaflex ChezMoi, which insulates the metal against both cold and heat. This kit brings together the quantities calculated for the Boxer L2H1: 1 roll of 10 mm insulation, 3 rolls of 19 mm insulation, 3 rolls of Tape and 1 Cleaner, with a pair of gloves and a utility knife included free.

Armaflex ChezMoi is an elastomeric foam made in Europe using Armacell technology. Its self-adhesive side sticks directly to clean metal, with no additional adhesive needed. Its closed cells also act as a vapour barrier (μ> 7,000): there is no separate vapour control layer to install, and less condensation forms on the metal.

With a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/(m·K) and an operating range of −50 °C to +85 °C, it insulates against both cold and heat, whether you turn your Boxer into a campervan, a work van or a motorhome. The A+ rating (ISO 16000, VOC-free) and Microban® antimicrobial treatment built into the material matter in a space where you sleep. Its reaction to fire complies with the FMVSS automotive standard, and the manufacturer guarantees the material for 10 years.

The kit is straightforward to use: the 10 mm insulation goes on the floor and uprights, the 19 mm insulation on the walls and ceiling, Tape seals the joints, and Cleaner cleans the metal before installation.

Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm: insulating the walls and ceiling

The 19 mm insulation is the standard thickness for large areas. It provides more insulation where space allows: the Boxer’s side walls, doors and ceiling. The kit contains 3 rolls, covering 18 m².

  • Thickness: 19 mm
  • Pack size: 6 m² roll (6 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C
  • Vapour barrier: built in, μ> 7,000
  • Operating temperature: −50 °C to +85 °C
  • Reaction to fire: FMVSS automotive standard
  • Air quality: A+ rating (ISO 16000), VOC-free
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban® built into the material

  • Thickness: 10 mm
  • Pack size: 10 m² roll (10 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C

Cutting Armaflex ChezMoi with a utility knife

Tape, Cleaner, gloves and utility knife: preparation, cutting and joints

Tape seals the joints between sheets to reduce thermal bridging, while Cleaner degreases the metal for good adhesion. The kit contains 3 rolls of Tape, providing 45 m of tape, and 1 bottle of Cleaner. A pair of gloves and a utility knife are included free for handling and cutting the insulation.

  • Tape: 15 m × 50 mm adhesive roll, 3 rolls in the kit
  • Cleaner: solvent-based Armaflex cleaner, 1 L bottle, applied with a cloth; 1 bottle in the kit
  • Gloves: 1 pair, included free with the kit
  • Utility knife: 1, included free with the kit

Compatible with: Peugeot Boxer L2H1

The kit is sized for the load area of a Peugeot Boxer L2H1 panel van (from 2006 onwards): 3,120 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and 1,662 mm high, with 1,422 mm between the wheel arches. These measurements are indicative: measure your vehicle before installation, especially if it has already been converted.

Please note: The cab partition is not included in the areas covered by the kit.

Because the closed cells of Armaflex ChezMoi already act as a vapour barrier, there is no need for a separate vapour control layer.

The Boxer L2H1 shares its bodywork with the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper: see the Fiat Ducato L2H1 and Citroën Jumper L2H1 kits. Other Boxer sizes: L1H1, L1H2, L2H2, L3H2 and L3H3.

How do you install the Armaflex ChezMoi kit in a Peugeot Boxer L2H1?

Armaflex ChezMoi is self-adhesive: it installs without additional adhesive, using a few simple tools, and requires no special skills. Just follow the steps in order. Our blog article on installing Armaflex explains each step in detail.

  1. Prepare the surfaces. Identify the areas to insulate. If you plan to fit wooden panelling, install your fixing battens first.
  2. Clean the surfaces before installation. Dampen a clean cloth with Cleaner and wipe down all the metal: it must be clean and free of grease for the adhesive to bond. Cleaner contains a solvent and gives off fumes: wear a mask and work outside if possible.
  3. Mark out. Transfer the dimensions of each area onto the non-adhesive side of the insulation, starting with the floor and uprights (10 mm), then the walls and ceiling (19 mm).
  4. Cut to size. Put on the gloves included free and cut the sheets to shape with the utility knife in the kit, or with an Armacell knife set if you prefer. The foam cuts cleanly.
  5. Stick in place. Peel off the protective film as you go, pressing the sheet onto the metal from the centre outwards to remove trapped air.
  6. Seal the joints. Apply Tape over every joint between two sheets to reduce thermal bridging.

Frequently asked questions about insulating a Peugeot Boxer L2H1

How can I tell if my Boxer is an L2H1?

The size combines length (L1, L2, L3) and roof height (H1, H2, H3). Measure the usable load-floor length: approximately 2,670 mm for an L1, 3,120 mm for an L2 and 3,705 mm for an L3. Then measure the interior roof height: approximately 1,662 mm for an H1, 1,932 mm for an H2 and 2,172 mm for an H3. An L2H1 measures approximately 3,120 mm by 1,662 mm.

Do you need DIY experience to install this kit?

No. The insulation is self-adhesive and can be cut with the utility knife included free in the kit: clean, cut, stick, then seal the joints with Tape. The six steps in the installation section are all you need, and the video shows you how.

Do you need to add adhesive?

No, the self-adhesive side of Armaflex ChezMoi sticks directly to the metal. Cleaner is only used to degrease it so the adhesive bonds well.

Is this kit suitable for a Boxer-based motorhome?

It is designed for a Boxer L2H1 panel van being converted into a campervan or motorhome. For a coachbuilt or low-profile motorhome, the living area has different surfaces: measure them before deciding how much Armaflex you need.

Can you double up the insulation for extreme cold?

Yes, you can layer two sheets in exposed areas if you travel in very cold conditions. You will need to add rolls of Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm to the kit.

Armaflex ChezMoi or Armaflex AF: what’s the difference?

Armaflex ChezMoi is the successor to Armaflex AF for vehicle conversions: the same self-adhesive foam, with reaction to fire in accordance with the FMVSS automotive standard. Our article compares the two ranges point by point.

Is there a kit for a Ducato or Jumper of the same size?

Yes: the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper each have their own L2H1 product listing. See the Fiat Ducato L2H1 kit and the Citroën Jumper L2H1 kit.

Complete the insulation and interior finish of your Peugeot Boxer L2H1

This kit insulates the metal in one go. To add fibrous materials, explore our campervan insulation kits.

For the floor, add an underlay of 4 mm cork on a roll beneath your floor covering: it reduces the cold-floor effect and cuts vibrations and road noise. Explore the full cork insulation range.

For the wall finish, start with a sample of stretch felt: you can choose the colour (light grey, dark grey, anthracite, black or beige) inside your van before ordering the van lining felt.
