Insulate your Peugeot Boxer L3H2 without glue: 34 m² of self-adhesive Armaflex ChezMoi

To insulate a Peugeot Boxer L3H2 campervan conversion, this kit brings together self-adhesive Armaflex ChezMoi and everything needed to fit it: 1 roll of 10 mm, 4 rolls of 19 mm, 4 rolls of Tape and 1 bottle of Cleaner, plus a free pair of gloves and utility knife. No glue to buy or spread: the self-adhesive backing sticks directly to cleaned metalwork. The quantities are calculated for the Boxer L3H2, excluding the cab partition.

Armaflex ChezMoi is an elastomeric foam made in Europe using Armacell technology. Its self-adhesive backing sticks directly to cleaned metalwork, with no additional glue. Its closed-cell structure also acts as a vapour barrier (μ> 7 000): there is no separate vapour control layer to fit, and condensation on the metalwork is reduced.

With a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/(m·K) and a service temperature range of −50 °C to +85 °C, it insulates against both cold and heat, whether you turn your Boxer into a campervan, a work van or a motorhome. Its A+ rating (ISO 16000, VOC-free) and Microban® antimicrobial treatment built into the material matter in a space where you sleep. Its reaction to fire meets the FMVSS automotive standard, and the manufacturer guarantees the material for 10 years.

Using the kit is straightforward: the 10 mm material is for the floor and uprights, the 19 mm material for the walls and ceiling, Tape for sealing the joints and Cleaner for cleaning the metalwork before fitting.

Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm: insulate the walls and ceiling

The 19 mm material is the standard thickness for large areas. It provides the most insulation where space allows: the Boxer's side walls, doors and ceiling. The kit contains 4 rolls, covering 24 m².

  • Thickness: 19 mm
  • Pack size: 6 m² roll (6 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C
  • Vapour barrier: integrated, μ> 7 000
  • Service temperature: −50 °C to +85 °C
  • Reaction to fire: FMVSS automotive standard
  • Indoor air quality: A+ rating (ISO 16000), VOC-free
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban® built into the material
  • Warranty: 10 years (manufacturer)

Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm: insulate the floor and uprights

The 10 mm material fits where space is tight: the floor, deep structural ribs, wheel arches and uprights. It preserves interior headroom while insulating the metalwork. The kit contains 1 roll, covering 10 m².

  • Thickness: 10 mm
  • Pack size: 10 m² roll (10 m × 1 m)
  • Thermal conductivity: λ = 0.035 W/(m·K) at 0 °C
  • Vapour barrier: integrated, μ> 7 000
  • Service temperature: −50 °C to +85 °C
  • Reaction to fire: FMVSS automotive standard
  • Indoor air quality: A+ rating (ISO 16000), VOC-free
  • Antimicrobial treatment: Microban® built into the material
  • Warranty: 10 years (manufacturer)

Tape, Cleaner, gloves and utility knife: preparation, cutting and sealing joints

Tape seals the joints between sheets to limit thermal bridging, while Cleaner degreases the metalwork for good adhesion. The kit contains 4 rolls of Tape, providing 60 m of tape, and 1 bottle of Cleaner. A pair of gloves and a utility knife are included free for handling and cutting the insulation.

  • Tape: 15 m × 50 mm adhesive roll; 4 rolls in the kit
  • Cleaner: solvent-based Armaflex cleaner, 1 L bottle, applied with a cloth; 1 bottle in the kit
  • Gloves: 1 pair, included free with the kit
  • Utility knife: 1, included free with the kit

Compatibility: Peugeot Boxer L3H2

The kit is sized for the load area of a Peugeot Boxer L3H2 panel van (from 2006): 3 705 mm long, 1 870 mm wide and 1 932 mm high, with a width of 1 422 mm between the wheel arches. These dimensions are indicative: measure your vehicle before fitting, especially if it has already been converted.

Please note: The partition separating the load area from the cab is not included in the areas covered by the kit.

Because the closed-cell structure of Armaflex ChezMoi already acts as a vapour barrier, no separate vapour control layer is needed.

The Boxer L3H2 shares its bodywork with the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper: see the Fiat Ducato L3H2 and Citroën Jumper L3H2 kits. Other Boxer sizes: L1H1, L1H2, L2H1, L2H2 and L3H3.

How do I fit the Armaflex ChezMoi kit in a Peugeot Boxer L3H2?

Armaflex ChezMoi is self-adhesive: it can be fitted without glue, using a few simple tools, and requires no specialist skills. Simply follow the steps in order. Our blog article on fitting Armaflex explains each step in detail.

  1. Prepare the surfaces. Identify the areas to insulate. If you plan to fit wooden panelling, install your fixing battens first.
  2. Clean the surfaces before fitting. Soak a clean cloth with Cleaner and wipe down all the metalwork: it must be clean and free of grease for the adhesive to bond. Cleaner contains a solvent and gives off fumes: wear a mask and work outside if possible.
  3. Mark out. Transfer the dimensions of each area onto the non-adhesive side of the insulation, starting with the floor and uprights (10 mm), then the walls and ceiling (19 mm).
  4. Cut to size. Put on the free gloves and cut the sheets to shape with the utility knife in the kit, or with an Armacell knife kit if you prefer. The foam cuts cleanly.
  5. Stick in place. Peel away the protective film as you go, pressing the sheet onto the metalwork from the centre outwards to remove trapped air.
  6. Seal the joints. Apply Tape over every joint between two sheets to limit thermal bridging.

Frequently asked questions about insulating a Peugeot Boxer L3H2

How can I tell if my Boxer is an L3H2?

The size combines length (L1, L2, L3) and roof height (H1, H2, H3). Measure the usable length of the load floor: approximately 2 670 mm for an L1, 3 120 mm for an L2 and 3 705 mm for an L3. Then measure the interior roof height: approximately 1 662 mm for an H1, 1 932 mm for an H2 and 2 172 mm for an H3. An L3H2 measures approximately 3 705 mm by 1 932 mm.

Do I need DIY experience to fit this kit?

No. The insulation is self-adhesive and can be cut with the utility knife included free in the kit: clean, cut, stick, then seal the joints with Tape. The six steps in the fitting section are all you need, and the video shows you how.

Do I need to add glue?

No, the self-adhesive backing of Armaflex ChezMoi sticks directly to the metalwork. Cleaner is only used to degrease it so the adhesive bonds properly.

Is this kit suitable for a Boxer-based motorhome?

It is designed for an L3H2 Boxer panel van being converted into a campervan or motorhome. For a coachbuilt or low-profile motorhome, the living area has different surfaces: measure them before deciding how much Armaflex you need.

Can I double the thickness for very cold conditions?

Yes, you can layer two thicknesses in exposed areas if you drive in very cold conditions. You will then need to add rolls of Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm to the kit.

Armaflex ChezMoi or Armaflex AF: what’s the difference?

Armaflex ChezMoi is the successor to Armaflex AF for vehicle conversions: the same self-adhesive foam, with a reaction to fire that meets the FMVSS automotive standard. Our article compares the two ranges point by point.

Is there a kit for a Ducato or Jumper of the same size?

Yes: the Fiat Ducato and Citroën Jumper each have their own L3H2 product listings. See the Fiat Ducato L3H2 kit and the Citroën Jumper L3H2 kit.

Complete the insulation and finish of your Peugeot Boxer L3H2

This kit insulates the metalwork in one go. To go further with fibrous materials, explore our campervan insulation kits.

For the floor, add a 4 mm cork underlay roll beneath your floor covering: it reduces the feeling of a cold floor and reduces vibrations and road noise. Explore the full cork insulation range.

To finish the walls, start with a stretch carpet lining sample: you can choose the colour (light grey, dark grey, anthracite, black or beige) inside your van before ordering the van carpet lining.
