Insulation for L2H1 van: the eco-friendly, clever and complete kit!

You've scoured the internet searching for the best products to insulate your L2H1 van, but you can't decide which product to choose? If you're looking for the ideal solution, ready-to-use, eco-friendly and affordable, then your search ends here. At Heode, we've designed the insulation kit you need!

Drawing on our expertise, and following the success of our solutions such as the L2H1 Armaflex and cork flakes kit, our van conversion specialists have developed this kit. It combines thermo-acoustic performance and respect for the planet, without sacrificing your budget. Each component has been selected for its effectiveness and its ability to meet the specific constraints of each area of a van (humidity, difficult access areas, compression, etc.).

This kit is perfect for insulating the L2H1 versions of the Renault Trafic or Master. It is also suitable for Ford Transit Custom, Peugeot Expert, Citroën Jumpy, Opel Vivaro, Fiat Scudo, Toyota Proace and other L2H1 size vans.

4 mm cork: a natural and infallible base for your floor

For the floor of your L2H1, cork is an obvious choice. This 100% bio-sourced material has exceptional properties.

  • Rot-proof: it provides lasting protection for your conversion against mould.
  • Incompressible: ideal under a floor, it fears neither repeated passages nor road vibrations.
  • Natural insulation: it provides optimal thermal and acoustic comfort, whilst being 100% bio-sourced and biodegradable.

To offer you the simplest possible installation experience, it comes in rolls. Simply use your flooring as a template and follow the contours with a cutter. Honestly, you'd almost have to do it on purpose to get it wrong!

Métisse RT: the versatile solution for walls, doors and reinforcements

French production, solidarity commitment, recycled fibres, high performance... Listing all the qualities of Métisse RT without forgetting any is a very difficult task, as there are so many!

Métisse RT 20kg/m3: unrivalled thermal and acoustic comfort

Want to make your van a real haven of peace? Métisse RT is the answer for insulating every nook and cranny, from the ceiling to the walls, including the most complex reinforcements.

Its thermal performance is remarkable (lambda of 0.039 W/m·K). Thanks to its excellent thermal phase shift, it keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer. On the noise front, it provides sound reduction of up to 68 dB. Traffic noise will be nothing but a distant memory!

For your peace of mind and health, it benefits from flame retardant, antifungal and antibacterial treatment applied to the very heart of the fibre.

Métisse RT: a committed choice for the planet and for people

Insulating your L2H2 with Métisse RT means opting for a product that makes sense, a gesture for the environment but also for the French social and solidarity economy. It is indeed for these values that we incorporate it into other solutions, such as our L2H1 mixed kit with Biofib or our very popular L2H1 Armaflex and Métisse RT mixed kit.

Composed of recycled textile fibres (at least 70% cotton!) and 15% polyester binder, it gives clothing a second life. This wonderful initiative is led by Le Relais (Emmaüs network), which works for professional integration. And as it is processed in France, it's a local, supportive and eco-friendly choice. You might think that's perfect, but it does even better: it is also fully recyclable!

High-performance insulation that won't cost an arm and a leg

We often think that quality rhymes with a high budget. Métisse RT is proof to the contrary! Compared to Armaflex or other insulation materials such as hemp fibre, it offers simply unbeatable value for money.

The Heode team's advice for installing the eco-friendly insulation kit for L2H1

Does the idea of insulating your van yourself worry you? This kit is designed so that anyone can do it, even a complete beginner! How? It's simple: we've calculated the most accurate quantities for your L2H1 and selected ultra-simple products to install, even including a small margin in case of error.

The first step will be to thoroughly clean all the walls of your van with the solvent-free Armaflex Cleaner. Designed by Armacell, the company famous for its Armaflex insulation, this cleaner is less polluting as it contains no solvents or antifreeze. It will allow you to effectively remove traces of grease, rust and other dirt, essential to ensure good adhesion of the insulation!

For this kit, we opted for Métisse RT in panels, much easier to handle than rolls, which also limits the number of cuts required. Flexible and lightweight, it can be cut effortlessly with simple smooth or serrated blade knives. The big plus: no toxic emissions (A+ rated) for risk-free installation. The little extra? It doesn't scratch! An installation comfort that changes everything.

For a solid fixing, a spray contact adhesive is supplied in the kit. Once the panels are in place, don't forget the vapour brake (included). It is essential to protect your installation from moisture and ensure maximum longevity.

FAQ: your questions, our answers!

Can Métisse RT be installed over sprayed cork?

Yes, absolutely! Métisse RT complements sprayed cork very well. These two materials can work together for optimal insulation. Sprayed cork provides an initial thermal and anti-condensation barrier, whilst Métisse RT improves thermal and acoustic insulation. Simply ensure that the sprayed cork is smooth and allow it to dry for at least 24 hours before installing the Métisse RT.

Is a vapour brake essential with Métisse RT? Why not a vapour barrier?

Yes, the vapour brake is crucial with Métisse RT, as is the case with most fibrous insulation. Métisse RT is breathable: it allows water vapour to pass through. The vapour brake regulates this passage and prevents condensation in the insulation and on the metal, which prevents degradation of the insulation and corrosion.

Can I opt for a vapour barrier instead of a vapour brake?

A vapour barrier is completely impermeable to water vapour. In a van, where temperature and humidity variations are frequent, a vapour barrier could trap moisture in the structure of the Métisse RT, which would be counterproductive. The vapour brake has controlled (hygrovariable) permeability. It allows any moisture to escape from the insulation, whilst limiting the entry of moisture from inside the van. It's the best solution for healthy and durable insulation, especially with a natural fibre insulation like Métisse RT.

Is this eco-friendly insulation kit suitable for my large van?

The quantities in this kit are calculated for large vans (L2H2). Consider Renault Trafic/Master L2H2, Peugeot Expert/Boxer L2H2, Citroën Jumpy/Jumper L2H2, Ford Transit Custom L2H2, Opel Vivaro/Movano L2H2, Fiat Ducato L2H2 and similar models.
