Designed for vehicles equipped with an EURO 5 or EURO 6 smart alternator (from 2009) to optimally (re)charge a 12V auxiliary battery present in an electrical installation within a converted van. 

More practical than a split charge relay, the Orion-Tr Smart booster charger offers reliable and controlled charging even under irregular voltage conditions. Thanks to its wide input and output voltage range, it can compensate for power losses, which may be related to insufficient charging voltage from the smart alternator (even when the engine is running) or to significant cable lengths within a leisure vehicle's electrical system.

The operation and wide voltage range of the booster charger are essential to ensure complete charging of the service battery (auxiliary) whilst protecting the starter/input battery (engine) from discharge.

Compatible with Lead or Lithium batteries, this Orion-Tr Smart 24/12V 30A booster charger has an adaptive 3-stage charging algorithm: bulk, absorption, float. This algorithm increases the auxiliary battery's lifespan whilst charging it intelligently.

• For a lead battery, it is important during partial discharges that the absorption time is short to avoid overcharging. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure a complete recharge.
• For a lithium battery, the absorption time is fixed (2 hours by default).

The isolated Orion-Tr Smart charger can be configured (via the Victron Connect app) to provide power only when the engine is running. This is possible thanks to the engine shutdown detection system integrated into the booster charger. This prevents the vehicle's onboard voltage from becoming too low.

Once the app is installed, you can monitor voltage and current; modify settings and update the charger when new software features are available. It can display the most important data, including warnings and alarms on the "Device List" page without having to connect to the equipment.
