Métisse RT: insulation that respects the planet and supports local employment

When you choose Métisse RT to insulate your L2H2, you're making a commitment not only to the planet, but also to the French social economy.

That's why we also use it in our L2H2 Armaflex and Métisse RT combination kit, a revamped version of the L2H2 Armaflex and Biofib combination kit.

It is made from recycled textile fibres (minimum 70% cotton!) and 15% polyester binder. With Métisse RT, your old clothes continue to keep you warm in a different way!

Team Heode 's advice on installing the L2H2 ecological insulation kit for vehicles

Are you intimidated by the idea of insulating your van yourself? This kit makes the task accessible to anyone. Yes, even if you have no experience! And there's a very simple reason for this: we've calculated the quantities you need for an L2H2 and chosen products that are particularly easy to fit. We've even built in a little margin for unforeseen circumstances!

For Métisse RT, we chose the panel version, which is easier to handle than rolls. What's more, using panels also reduces the number of cuts!

Flexible and lightweight, it cuts effortlessly with smooth or corrugated knives. The bonus? No toxic emissions (classified A+ for VOCs), so it's safe to install. And best of all, it's scratch-free! Installation comfort that makes all the difference.

To ensure that your insulation adheres perfectly, it 's essential to prepare the surface thoroughly. The first step is to degrease and thoroughly clean your van's sheet metal with Armaflex Cleaner. Developed by Armacell (the creator of the famous Armaflex), this effective product is more respectful of the environment because it is formulated without solvents or antifreeze. It will remove traces of grease, rust and other dirt to ensure a healthy base, ready to be insulated.

For perfect fixing, a contact spray adhesive is included.

After laying the panels edge to edge, don't forget the vapour brake (included). It protects your installation from damp and ensures its longevity.

FAQ : Your questions, our clarifications!

Can Métisse RT be installed over sprayed cork?

Yes, absolutely! Métisse RT complements sprayed cork very well. These two materials can be combined for optimum insulation. Sprayed cork provides an initial thermal and anti-condensation barrier. Métisse RT improves thermal insulation and soundproofing. Make sure the sprayed cork is smooth. Leave to dry for at least 24 hours before laying Métisse RT.

Is a vapour barrier essential with Métisse RT? Why not a vapour barrier?

Yes, the vapour brake is crucial with Métisse RT. This is true for most fibrous insulation materials. Métisse RT is breathable: it lets water vapour through. The vapour brake regulates this passage. It prevents condensation in the insulation and on the metal sheet. This prevents degradation of the insulation and corrosion.

Can I opt for a vapour barrier instead of a vapour brake?

A vapour barrier is completely impermeable to water vapour. In a van, variations in temperature and humidity are frequent. A vapour barrier could trap the moisture in the Métisse RT structure. This would be counter-productive. The vapour barrier, on the other hand, has a controlled permeability (hygrovariable). It allows any moisture to escape from the insulation. At the same time, it limits the entry of moisture from inside the van. It's the best solution for healthy, long-lasting insulation. Especially with natural fibre insulation like Métisse RT.

Is this ecological insulation kit suitable for my large van?

The quantities of this kit are calculated for large vans (L2H2). Think Renault Trafic/Master L2H2, Peugeot Expert/Boxer L2H2. It is also suitable for Citroën Jumpy/Jumper L2H2, Ford Transit Custom L2H2, Opel Vivaro/Movano L2H2, Fiat Ducato L2H2 and similar models.
