Cleaning the walls of a van with Armaflex Cleaner

Step 2: Insulate the walls and ceiling

Roll out Armaflex ChezMoi 19 mm over the walls and ceiling, starting from the bottom and peeling off the protective film as you go.

Smooth each section by hand to expel any air, then reinforce the ceiling with mechanical fixings every 500 mm.

Step 1: Prepare the surfaces

Degrease the sheet metal with Armaflex Cleaner, working from top to bottom, before any installation.

A perfectly clean and dry surface is essential: the slightest trace of grease or dust will prevent the adhesive from bonding durably.

Fit your battens and mechanical fixings before the insulation, so as not to compress it once in place.

Step 3: Treat reinforcements and wheel arches

Armaflex ChezMoi 10 mm, thinner and more flexible, fits into uprights, longitudinal beams and wheel arches that the 19 mm cannot conform to.

Cut it with a fresh blade, leaving a 5 mm margin to compensate for irregularities in the sheet metal.

Step 4: Insulate the doors with Métisse RT

Cut the Métisse RT to the shape of the door panel using a smooth or serrated-blade knife, leaving a slight margin for a snug fit.

Then fit the Proclima Intello vapour barrier on the interior side — essential with a fibrous insulation: it prevents moisture from accumulating against the sheet metal.

Secure it with the dedicated double-sided adhesive tape.

Step 5: Seal the joints

Every joint between two lengths of Armaflex ChezMoi, every corner and every cut must be sealed with Armaflex ChezMoi Tape.

A single bare spot is enough to create a cold bridge where condensation settles, with a risk of corrosion on the sheet metal as a result.

Be generous — now is not the time to be too sparing!

Step 6: Dress the floor

Apply high-performance spray adhesive to the floor metal sheet, then roll the 4 mm cork out on top.

Thin and flexible, it takes up almost no floor height while cutting out the cold rising from the ground.

Once installed, your van is fully insulated — you can move on to the next step of your fit-out!

The insulation kit for L2H1 vehicles that combines performance, ease of installation and eco-friendliness

Not sure where to turn when choosing insulating materials that combine effectiveness and respect for the environment?

Our fit-out experts have thought of you by designing a ready-to-use kit that combines the best in thermal and acoustic performance with a genuine ecological commitment.

And don't worry if you're far from being a DIY pro: each material has been chosen for its ease of use. The goal: for you to be able to install it without any hassle, even if it's the first time you're insulating a van!

In this kit, you will find three complementary insulators, each suited to a specific area of the vehicle.

A closer look at the Métisse RT fibres

Armaflex ChezMoi – For walls, ceilings and wheel arches

The successor to the Armaflex AF, the Armaflex ChezMoi combines exceptional thermal and acoustic performance in a formulation designed from the outset for van conversions.

⏩ In the 10 mm self-adhesive version, perfect for wheel arches, which are often sources of noise.

⏩ The 19 mm version with integrated vapour barrier is ideal for the ceiling, a critical area for condensation

⏩ Treated with Microban®, it is resistant to bacteria and mould, with a 10-year manufacturer's guarantee

4 mm cork roll – For the floor

Cork is a natural and high-performance solution for insulating the floor of your van. Resistant to moisture, it provides excellent insulation while remaining thin and lightweight. Easy to install, it ensures a stable and healthy base without adding unnecessary weight.

Métisse RT – For doors and hard-to-reach areas

Flexible, recycled and locally sourced, the Métisse RT excels where conventional insulators reach their limits: reinforcements, angles, tight corners… Its adaptability makes it the perfect ally for the more complex parts of the vehicle to insulate.

And of course, the kit also includes everything you need for the installation and long-term adhesion of your insulation. No need to worry about tedious calculations: we've already worked it all out for you — all you have to do is order!

Métisse RT: a natural insulator that's good for the planet and for society!

Does this blue shade ring a bell? That's normal: the Métisse RT may once have been your favourite pair of jeans! Indeed, this natural insulator is made from recycled cotton fabric, sourced from Le Relais collection bins in the Emmaüs network.

It is an insulation material committed on several levels:

  • Made from at least 70% recycled cotton and 15% polyester binder
  • Fully recyclable
  • Locally produced in France, in Le Relais centres
  • A+ certified for VOC emissions: no harmful fumes
  • From the social and solidarity economy: it supports local employment

An insulator that keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter

With a thermal conductivity of 0.039 W/m·K, the Métisse RT 45 mm keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer thanks to excellent thermal phase shifting.

It reduces heating requirements in cold weather and slows heat entry in high temperatures. On the acoustic side, it effectively absorbs outside disturbances (traffic, rain, wind) up to 68 dB (depending on how it is installed).

Not forgetting its integrated treatments: fire-retardant, antifungal, antibacterial — for a durable and safe insulator.

Simplified installation for L2H1 vehicles

Our specialists have selected each material in this kit for its performance, but also for its ease of installation, accessible to everyone, including beginners.

Flexible, lightweight, non-irritating and easy to cut, the Métisse RT is a breeze to install, even in the trickiest corners.

FAQ - L2H1 insulation kit

Which vehicles are compatible with this insulation kit?

This kit is perfectly suited to L2H1 panel vans. It fits very popular models such as the Renault Trafic, Ford Transit Custom, Peugeot Expert, Citroën Jumpy, Opel Vivaro, Fiat Scudo or Toyota Proace in their L2H1 configurations. The quantities and formats are adjusted to optimise coverage for these vehicles.

What is the lifespan of this insulation kit?

Designed with high-quality materials, this insulation kit offers excellent longevity. Under normal conditions of use and with a compliant installation, you can expect the insulation performance to be maintained for many years, often beyond 15 years. Maintaining good ventilation in the vehicle is essential to optimise this lifespan.

Are there other ecological insulators besides Métisse RT for insulating my van?

Of course! We also offer a ready-to-use insulation pack made from Biofib, an insulator made from natural fibres produced in France. Its added bonus? It offers excellent hygroscopic regulation!

Is a vapour barrier essential when fitting the Métisse RT?

Yes, integrating a vapour barrier is crucial for durable and effective insulation, especially with an insulator like the Métisse RT. The "smart" (hygrovariable) vapour barrier helps manage moisture transfer and prevent condensation from forming inside the walls, thus protecting your insulator and the bodywork from corrosion.

Can I install this insulation kit on top of sprayed cork?

Applying Armaflex directly onto sprayed cork is not recommended if the surface is uneven, as this could impair adhesion. However, sprayed cork can make an excellent first layer for acoustic and thermal insulation. If you use sprayed cork, make sure it is dry and fully cured before continuing to apply the other insulators. A layer of sprayed cork already provides a good base.

How do I ensure good ventilation in my L2H1 once it's insulated?

Good insulation must always be accompanied by effective ventilation. We recommend installing low and high vents, passive or motorised, to create a constant airflow. This is essential to remove moisture generated by breathing and activities inside the van, and thus preserve air quality and the integrity of your insulation over the long term.
