Mains socket for 230V electrical installation in converted vans

This flush-mounted power socket is to be connected to the 3 conducting wires of the R02-V 3G2.5mm² electrical cable then installed in a flush-mounting box onto which it must be screwed.

Once installed and dressed with a white, black or sea green finishing plate, a 2P+E (Phase, Neutral, Earth) flush-mounted power socket like this one allows you to connect your electrical appliances to the 230V domestic mains safely! It provides a stable 230V power supply whilst incorporating an earthing system to protect your appliances against overvoltage or short-circuit risks.

How to install a power socket?

Before installing one or more mains socket(s), you must first have installed a 1-gang or multi-gang flush-mounting box depending on your needs. A few tools are needed for installation: 1 cutting pliers, 1 wire strippers and 1 flat screwdriver.

Step 1: For your safety, ensure that no electrical equipment is switched on (switch off the power at the circuit breaker). Grab and strip the 3G2.5mm² cable to a length of a few mm. Then strip the 3 conducting wires (blue; yellow and green; brown) to a length of 11mm each. As a reminder, the conductor with a blue sheath is the neutral, the conductor with a brown sheath is the phase and the conductor with a yellow and green sheath is the earth.

Step 2: Once your 3 conductors are stripped, insert them, each one, up to the stop in their respective terminal at the back of the power socket. If you need to disconnect a conducting wire, simply press the push button of its terminal and remove it.

Step 3: After connecting the conductors to the terminals properly and without error, place the socket in the flush-mounting box and screw it in the designated places. To dress your power socket, clip on a finishing plate in white, black or sea green (product sold separately on our site).
